The Beginning

How it started

I was 16 when my school climbing club took us to Adršpach. I remember stepping out of the bus and just staring at these massive sandstone towers. They looked impossible. But by the end of that weekend, I’d climbed three routes and I was completely hooked.

It wasn’t a quick decision to make this a career. I went to Charles University in Prague, got my degree in Physical Education and Outdoor Recreation, and spent years wondering if I should pursue something more stable. But I kept coming back to the rock. Every summer, every free weekend — I was out climbing.

In 2012, I completed my IFMGA mountain guide certification. That’s when it became real. I started guiding seriously, and then I started developing routes. Over the past 14 years, I’ve put bolts in over 80 new routes across northern Bohemia. I’ve taken beginners up their first sport route. I’ve taught hundreds of people how to belay safely. I’ve worked through seasons where conditions were terrible and seasons where everything just clicked.

What keeps me going? Honestly, it’s the moment when someone who’s scared of heights clips their first protection on a sport route. Or when a boulderer finally understands the technique and does a problem they’ve been trying for weeks. That’s why I create educational content now — because I want people to have good information before they get on the rock, not figure it out through trial and error like I did.

What I Know

Areas of expertise

Specialized knowledge across Czech climbing destinations and teaching methodologies

Adršpach Rock Town

Intimate knowledge of sandstone formations, protection systems, and weather patterns. I’ve developed routes across all difficulty levels and know the best approaches for different skill levels.

Labské údolí Climbing

Sport routes, traditional climbing, and mixed protection systems. I understand the geology, seasonal conditions, and how to sequence learning for climbers transitioning from bouldering to rope climbing.

Děčín Via Ferrata

Protected climbing systems, safety protocols, and equipment management. I’ve guided climbers of all abilities through via ferrata routes and understand how to teach people who are new to protected climbing.

Beginner Bouldering

Progression from fundamentals through intermediate problems. I know which gyms and outdoor spots work best for beginners, how to teach footwork and body positioning, and how to build confidence.

Route Development

Established over 80 routes across Czech climbing regions. I understand bolt placement, grade consistency, environmental impact, and how to create sustainable climbing infrastructure.

Instruction & Mentoring

Guided over 2,000 climbers ranging from complete beginners to experienced mountaineers. I’ve developed teaching methods that work across different learning styles and comfort levels.

My Philosophy

How I work

Real experience, practical teaching

I don’t believe in theory without practice. Everything I teach comes from thousands of hours on actual Czech rock. When I write about Adršpach protection systems, I’m describing what I’ve used on real routes. When I explain bouldering progression, I’m drawing from climbers I’ve coached.

The educational content I create at Blazenode isn’t polished marketing. It’s honest information about what works, what doesn’t, and where beginners commonly get stuck. I’d rather give you clear guidance on your first attempts than have you figure out dangerous mistakes through trial and error.

Every climber is different. Some people learn technique quickly but struggle with confidence. Others are fearless but have bad habits. I’ve spent 14 years adapting my teaching to meet people where they actually are, not where I think they should be.

Core principles

  • 1

    Safety first, always

Technique, equipment, and judgment — in that order. Good climbing is safe climbing.

  • 2

    Clear communication

Jargon-free explanations. You should understand why you’re doing something, not just how.

  • 3

    Respect the rock

Sustainable climbing, minimal impact, and protecting the places we love.

  • 4

    Everyone belongs here

Age, background, fitness level — none of that matters. Climbing’s for people who want to climb.
